March 17 - (The Insurer) - Skyward Specialty Insurance Group has appointed Patricia Ryan as its new general counsel, effective April 1, following the retirement of Leslie Shaunty, who is stepping down after nearly 12 years in the role.
Shaunty will remain with the company through the end of 2025 in a support and transition capacity.
Ryan joins Skyward Specialty after three years as chief legal officer at Trean Corporation.
She brings experience across a range of insurance legal competencies including compliance and regulatory matters, corporate governance and enterprise risk management, securities, products and contract law.
Earlier in her career, Ryan held senior legal and human resources leadership roles at HDI Global, QBE North America and Allianz/Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. She also spent more than a decade in private practice before transitioning to the insurance sector.
Speaking on Shaunty's departure, Andrew Robinson, Skyward Specialty's chairman and CEO, commented, "Leslie has been a key member of our executive leadership team providing product development, legal, compliance and strategic leadership.”
“Her expertise, drive and work rate were central to our highly successful IPO, each subsequent follow-on offering, and performance as a public company,” Robinson added.
