The Australian Ballet has extended the contract of artistic director David Hallberg for a further five years and, after almost a year without an executive director, has hired former Arts Centre Melbourne boss Claire Spencer to the role.
In a major show of faith in Hallberg, the South Dakota-born former principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre and Bolshoi Ballet will now shape the Melbourne-based performing arts company until at least the end of 2030.
