Super funds hire economists as they invest more offshore

Australia’s largest superannuation funds are hiring more economists as part of their continued drive to bring investing in-house to reduce fees and help allocate a growing pool of money overseas.

Rest Super is one of the latest to recruit an economist, hiring Alexis Gray from Vanguard last year, while Aware Super, Australia’s third-largest super fund, is considering expanding its team of three. AustralianSuper, Australian Retirement Trust, and HESTA have also ramped up their macro expertise.
