1003 GMT - DFS Furniture's resilient performance shows that the company is doing the right thing given the continuing challenging backdrop where shoppers are avoiding to spend on expensive items such as sofas, AJ Bell investment director Russ Mould says in a note. "Product innovation, such as sofas with wireless charging points and wine coolers, might help pique some shoppers' curiosity," he says. Added to that, the U.K. furniture retailer is benefiting from a clever marketing strategy, which includes data analysis, catchy adverts and partnering with influencers, Mould says. However, DFS faces the challenge of keeping momentum, which is out of its hands as it depends on the strength of the consumer and the U.K. economy, Mould adds. Shares are up more than 11% at 146 pence. (michael.susin@wsj.com)
