HSBC Holdings Buys Back Another 6.1 Million Shares

HSBC Holdings (HKG:0005) bought back 6,093,742 shares in Hong Kong and London on Friday, according to a Monday bourse filing.

The British lender repurchased 3,120,942 shares in the UK at a weighted average price of 8.84 pounds sterling and 2,972,800 shares in Hong Kong at a weighted average price of HK$88.52.

Since the program started, HSBC has repurchased 61,546,877 shares for a total consideration of about $706.8 million.

Upon cancellation of the repurchased shares in the UK, the bank will have 17,795,518,570 ordinary shares.
