Singapore Shares Rise 0.4%, Tracking Wall Street Gains -- Market Talk

0112 GMT - Singapore's FTSE Straits Times Index rises 0.4% to 3914.90, tracking Wall Street's gains overnight. Investors have hoped that U.S. President Trump's one-month tariff exemption for auto imports from Canada and Mexico will "open the flood gates" for more concessions, the Phillip Securities Research team says in commentary. Among the best performers on the benchmark index, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding rises 1.7%, SATS Ltd. adds 1.3% and Thai Beverage is 1.0% higher. Meanwhile, Jardine Matheson Holdings falls 1.5% and City Developments sheds 0.8%. (ronnie.harui@wsj.com)
