Plastics Industry Assoc CEO: Tariffs Will Hinder American Manufacturing -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
05 Mar

1831 ET - The Plastics Industry Association says it is deeply concerned about tariffs the Trump administration has imposed on products coming in from China, as well as Canada and Mexico. "While we understand President Trump's rationale, a competitive industry depends on policies that protect American manufacturing while ensuring stable supply chains," CEO Matt Seaholm says. "These tariffs will disrupt the movement of essential machines, products, and materials that keep American manufacturers running across sectors like healthcare, consumer products, and automotive." The tariffs, he adds, threaten to disrupt global supply chains, increase costs and risk eroding the U.S.'s plastics manufacturing and economic leadership. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
