Tencent's (HKG:0700) update of its user agreement for its Yuanbao artificial intelligence assistant has granted more intellectual property (IP) rights for users, Yicai Global reported Thursday.
The latest update, released Tuesday, said it will not use any content uploaded to the platform or any content generated by its model optimization service unless the user activates Yuanbao's "experience optimization plan," the report said.
Once the user consents, Tencent will be given free, non-exclusive, and worldwide license to utilize the content, the report said.
The old terms allowed Tencent and affiliates an irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable, non-exclusive, unrestricted, permanent, and free license to use the content, the report said.
The update came after netizens spotted the clause, fueling concerns about non-compensation for the use of the content, the report said.
