TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has issued certificates for the level of domestic components (TKDN) to Apple for 11 mobile phone products and 9 computer tablet products. These TKDN certificates were signed by the Head of the Domestic Product Development Center of the Industry Ministry.

Febri Hendri Antoni Arief, the Industry Ministry's spokesperson, explained that these 20 certificates were issued after Apple met the TKDN requirements for mobile phones, computers, and tablets (HKT), as stated in the Industry Minister's Regulation No. 29 of 2017. Apple had also been addressed for not fulfilling requirements during the years 2020-2023.

Following the government's plan, Apple chose scheme 3 for the 2025-2028 proposal period. This plan includes Apple's promise to build a research and innovation facility in Indonesia, with an investment of US$160 million.

"The research and innovation center in Indonesia is Apple's second research and innovation facility outside the United States and the first in Asia," Febri said in his official statement on Friday, March 7, 2025.

With the 20 TKDN certificates in hand, Febri stated that Apple could now proceed to obtain the post and telecommunications certificate from the Ministry of Communication and Digital. This post and telecommunications certificate will allow Apple to get the import product registration mark from the Industry Ministry. This import product registration mark is needed for all Apple products imported to get IMEI and import approval (PI) from the Ministry of Trade.

Among the Apple products that received the TKDN certificate is the iPhone 16 Series. This includes the top-of-the-line iPhone 16 Pro Max as well as the more budget-friendly iPhone 16e.

This new Apple phone has been listed on the Industry Ministry's TKDN website since Friday, March 7, 2025. Therefore, the phone is now ready to be sold officially in Indonesia.

Out of all the Apple devices that passed the TKDN, five models have a domestic content value of 40 percent. These are the iPhone 16 (code A3287), iPhone 16 Plus (A3290), iPhone 16 Pro (A3293), iPhone 16 Pro Max (A3296), and iPhone 16e (A3409)."
