C3.ai Inc. (AI) shares tumbled more than 5% in extended trading Wednesday, weighed down by a weak earnings outlook despite better-than-expected revenue and a narrower-than-expected loss in the company's fiscal third quarter.
The enterprise software company's adjusted third-quarter loss was 12 cents a share, beating the FactSet consensus of a 25 cents-a-share loss.
Revenue rose to $98.8 million from $78.4 million in the prior year's quarter, a 26% increase that beat the analysts' estimate of $98.1 million.
For the fourth quarter, C3.ai expects revenue between $103.6 million and $113.6 million and an adjusted loss between 30 cents and 40 cents a share. Analysts surveyed by FactSet are looking for revenue of $108.6 million and a loss of 26 cents a share.
For the full year, the company expects revenue between $383.9 million and $393.9 million and an adjusted loss between 87 cents and 97 cents a share. Analysts are looking for revenue of $388.3 million and a loss of 63 cents a share.
