Feb 25 - (The Insurer) - Markel has bolstered its international specialty division in London with the appointment of Dean Johnson as senior underwriter for transport and logistics.
Johnson will be responsible for driving the profitable expansion of Markel's transport and logistics portfolio by underwriting liability and property package policies for the ports, terminals and marine trades industries, as well as cargo liabilities and marine professional indemnity globally.
He will also work closely with the team to spearhead the development of innovative products and identify opportunities for further profitable growth.
Johnson will report to Grant Smith, who earlier this year took on a dual role heading up the transport and logistics team alongside his role as director of marine and energy liability.
Johnson joins Markel following 14 years at Travelers Syndicate Management, most recently as a ports and terminals underwriter.
