FirstEnergy's (FE) FirstEnergy Transmission, Dominion Energy (D), and American Electric Power's (AEP) Transource Energy affiliate were awarded a number of electric transmission projects in Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland by regional grid operator PJM Interconnection, according to a joint statement Thursday.

The companies jointly proposed the projects in September 2024 and will undertake the development through their newly formed Valley Link Transmission joint venture, according to the statement.

The projects are in the early stages and do not have timelines for approvals and construction yet, the companies said. No financial details were disclosed.

Additionally, PJM said each company will individually develop transmission projects in their respective service areas.
