FirstEnergy (FE) said Thursday that FirstEnergy Transmission, its joint venture with Brookfield Super-Core Infrastructure Partners, secured multiple transmission projects from grid operator PJM Interconnection.

The joint venture will invest approximately $1.25 billion in the transmission projects. In addition, FirstEnergy subsidiaries Potomac Edison, Jersey Central Power & Light and Keystone Appalachian Transmission will invest $46 million to upgrade equipment at their substations and reconfigure transmission lines in Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

PJM projects include ones that FirstEnergy Transmission will develop through the Valley Link Transmission joint venture with Dominion Energy and American Electric Power. Others FirstEnergy Transmission is developing individually. All the projects are in early stages of development, FirstEnergy said.

Following PJM's selection of the projects, FirstEnergy will now begin advancing the development, including assessing potential routes, seeking stakeholder inputs, and conducting environmental studies.
