Coles Group Posts Lower Fiscal H1 Earnings Despite Rise in Revenue

Coles (ASX:COL) reported Thursday that its earnings per diluted share in the fiscal first half fell to AU$0.43, from AU$0.44 per diluted share a year earlier.

Analysts polled by Visible Alpha were expecting an EPS of AU$0.42.

Sales revenue for the 27 weeks ended Jan. 5 was AU$23.04 billion, up 4% from AU$22.22 billion in the previous comparable period. Analysts surveyed by Visible Alpha expected AU$22.85 billion.

The board declared an interim dividend of AU$0.37 per share, up from the AU$0.36 in the previous reported period, payable on March 27 to shareholders on record as of March 6.
