U.S.-China Tariff Disputes to Keep Looming Over Chinese Equities -- Market Talk

0323 GMT - The AI investment theme that has buoyed Chinese equities still has legs, but risks related to U.S.-China tariff disputes remain on the horizon, OCBC analysts write in a note. With the U.S. due to conclude a tariff review across a range of countries by April 1, the potential for an escalation in trade disputes is highly likely to persist in 2Q, they say. The outcome of Trump's potential visit to China is another key event to keep an eye on, OCBC says. Domestically, the National People's Congress meeting in March should shed light on China's next steps in policy support, especially more clarity on quantifying fiscal stimulus, it adds. The brokerage reiterates its preference for leading internet and platform companies with exposure to the broadening and acceleration of AI adoption. (jiahui.huang@wsj.com; @ivy_jiahuihuang)
