By Mia MacGregor

Feb 10 - (The Insurer) - Former Markel reinsurance chief Jed Rhoads has joined the board of Pennsylvania-based mortgage insurance specialist Radian.

Rhoads brings over 40 years of experience to Radian, most recently serving as president and CUO of Markel Group’s global reinsurance division for a decade until his retirement in 2022.

Prior to that, he was president and CUO of reinsurance at Alterra Capital Holdings Limited, which was acquired by Markel in 2013.

Earlier in his career, Rhoads worked at Harbor Point Re Bermuda, Chubb Re Bermuda (predecessors to Markel Global Re), Overseas Partners Limited, Stockton Reinsurance Bermuda, and Sedgwick Re.

“Jed’s vast experience in leading reinsurance operations around the world will add even more insight to the broad perspectives we value on the Radian board,” said Radian non-executive board chairman Howard Culang.

Wayne, Pennsylvania-based Radian provides a suite of products that support the homeowners market, including mortgage insurance, along with other risk, real estate and title-related services.
