The San Francisco-based company said it had net income of $2.68 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 56 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 63 cents per share.
The digital pinboard and shopping tool company posted revenue of $1.15 billion in the period, surpassing Street forecasts. Twelve analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.14 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $1.86 billion, or $2.67 per share. Revenue was reported as $3.65 billion.
For the current quarter ending in March, Pinterest said it expects revenue in the range of $837 million.
