Jan 23 - (The Insurer) - Lloyd's insurer IQUW has named Elisabeth Groehe and George Connell as lead underwriters for its portfolio solutions offering.
Piloted last year, IQUW Portfolio Solutions will be expanded to include both a specialist risks and structured solutions focus in response to developing market demands.
The duo will engage with brokers globally under a portfolio underwriting approach to meet the needs of consortia, MGAs and broker facilities.
The specialist risk offering will support brokers, coverholders and clients with complex, niche and emerging risks which currently have limited access to Lloyd’s capacity.
Groehe has been promoted to lead underwriter for specialist risk, having spent three years as a senior underwriter for professional lines. Prior to IQUW she spent four years at Hiscox.
Connell has been promoted to lead underwriter for structured solutions, having joined IQUW in 2021 as senior underwriter for political violence and war.
Both Groehe and Connell will report to Chris Wilkinson, head of specialty at IQUW.
Commenting on the appointments, IQUW active underwriter Steven Tebbutt said: “Throughout 2024, we built relationships and partnerships that have enabled us to understand and adapt to new and alternative ways of trading through Lloyd’s.
“This approach has seen us write business across a diverse range of lines, geographies and distribution channels and empowering Elisabeth and George will help us meet the growing demand for these types of client solutions.”
Connell added: “The focus on specialist risk and structured solutions is a natural extension of IQUW’s data-driven, client-focused approach. Not only is our team committed to collaborating with coverholders, insurers and brokers to facilitate strategic solutions that deliver long-term value, but we will bring our own insights to create a data-driven proposition that provides quick responses to brokers and clients.”
