1433 GMT - Ending the Ukraine-Russia war is absolutely within reach this year, former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg tells the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He says Russia is gaining territory in Ukraine but also paying a high price, losing more than 1,000 troops per day. Russia's inflation is probably much higher than what the country's official figures show, Stoltenberg says. According to Russian statistics agency Rosstat, inflation reached 9.5% at the end of 2024. "This is not the time to reduce the pressure on Russia," he says, adding that it is possible to persuade U.S. President Trump to maintain his administration's military support to Ukraine.
