Plug Power closed a $1.66 billion loan guarantee from the Energy Department, the company said Thursday.

The hydrogen energy company expects to use the loan to construct six hydrogen production projects in the U.S. The first to benefit from the financing should be Plug's plant in Graham, Texas, where the company expects to add more jobs.

Plug has other hydrogen generation plants in Georgia, Louisiana and Tennessee.
