The merger of Haitong Securities (SHA:600837, HKG:6837) and Guotai Junan Securities (SHA:601211, HKG:2611) has received the approval of China's securities regulator, according to a Hong Kong Stock Exchange filing on Friday.
The transaction will create a $230 billion securities broker, according to a report from Reuters.
Shares of Haitong Securities and Guotai Junan Securities rose about 1% in recent trade.
