GoDaddy (GDDY) will be required by the Federal Trade Commission to implement a "robust" information security program to settle charges over alleged failure to secure website-hosting services, the FTC said Wednesday.
The regulator said its proposed order will also forbid the web hosting company from misleading customers about its security practices.
The FTC alleged that the company has not implemented "reasonable and appropriate" security measures to protect and monitor its website-hosting environments against cyber threats since 2018.
"We are constantly improving our security capabilities and have already implemented a number of the requirements in the settlement agreement with the FTC," GoDaddy told MT Newswires.
"Notably, the resolution of this matter includes no admission of fault and no monetary penalties."
The company said it expects "minimal" financial impact related to complying with the agreement.
