Geely Automobile (HKG:0175) intends to roll out two new hybrid electric vehicle models using methanol gas in a bid to put renewable energy in the mainstream, The Standard reported Monday.

The new models will be alcohol-hydrogen electric hybrid sedans and sports utility vehicles, the report said, citing Geely methanol vehicle business center general manager Lu Yukai.

Geely's newest models will allow mixing methanol and gasoline in the same fuel tank, according to the report, citing Lu.

The car company plans to add more methanol filling stations in China to 40,000 from 519 as of the end of 2024, the report said.
