UDR switched up its executive suite to start the new year, naming new operations and investment officers, as well as launching a search for a top finance chief.

The Denver-based real-estate investment trust said Thursday it promoted Mike Lacy to the role of chief operating officer. Lacy, who is 43 years old and most recently served as UDR's senior vice president of operations, has held multiple operational roles at the company since joining in 2006.

The company also named Joe Fisher, its president and chief financial officer, to the role of chief investment officer. For the time being, Fisher will assume the CIO role in addition to his current positions.

UDR said it will initiate an executive search process to recruit a new CFO. Once the role is filled Fisher will step down from the post, though he will retain his roles of president and chief investment officer.

The executive changes went into effect Wednesday, the company said.
