Bitcoin (BTC-USD) jumped 5.4% to $101,043, and the yield for 10-year US Treasuries rose 1 basis point to 4.19%.
In economic news, US initial jobless claims last week rose to 224,000 from an upwardly revised 215,000 in the previous week, compared with expectations for 215,000 in a survey of analysts compiled by Bloomberg.
In corporate news, Fiserv (FI) said Chief Executive Officer Frank Bisignano was nominated by President-elect Donald Trump as the commissioner of the Social Security Administration. Fiserv shares tumbled 5.5%.
Citigroup (C) will become the exclusive issuer of the AAdvantage co-branded card portfolio in the US in 2026 under a new agreement with American Airlines Group (AAL). Citigroup shares rose 1.7%.
Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD) reported fiscal Q4 adjusted earnings of 1.72 Canadian dollars ($1.22) per diluted share, down from CA$1.82 a year earlier and below the consensus estimate from analysts surveyed by FactSet of CA$1.82. The shares tumbled 5.4%.
