CHICAGO, Dec 5 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for U.S. corn were flat to stronger at Midwestern grain elevators, ethanol plants and river terminals on Thursday, spot checks showed.

* Farmer selling of corn and soybeans remains slow ahead of the end of the year, grain dealers said.

* Weekly U.S. corn export sales exceeded analysts' estimates, signaling solid demand.

* The soy basis jumped by 10 cents a bushel at a river terminal in Toledo, Ohio, and was mostly flat elsewhere.

* U.S. soybean futures firmed on Thursday, led by strong gains in soyoil as Canada's smaller-than-anticipated canola harvest outlook stoked worries about tightening global vegetable oil supplies. GRA/
