Block (ASX:SQ2) swung to an attributable net profit of $283.8 million in the third quarter from a loss of $88.7 million in the same quarter a year earlier, according to a Friday filing with the Australian bourse.
Analysts polled by Visible Alpha expected an attributable net profit of $232.8 million.
Earnings per share was $0.45, compared with a loss per share of $0.15 a year earlier, the filing said. The consensus estimate compiled by Visible Alpha was for an EPS of $0.37.
Revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30 rose to $5.98 billion from $5.62 billion year on year, the filing added. Analysts surveyed by Visible Alpha expected $6.22 billion.
Shares of the financial technology firm fell almost 7% in recent Friday trade.
