Trade groups representing major US airlines asked the Justice Department to extend the public comment period on the Biden administration's inquiry into the state of competition in air travel, Reuters reported Friday.

Airlines for America, the International Air Transport Association and other air carrier groups said the review could dramatically impact the future of US aviation, the report said.

Airlines for America's members include, among others, Alaska Air Group (ALK), American Airlines (AAL), Delta Airlines (DAL), and Southwest Airlines (LUV).

Neither of the airlines immediately responded to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
